How to use fancy fonts on Reddit

Reddit comments and posts support markdown (**bold**, *italic*), but titles and usernames don't. The Unicode fonts above work in titles and display names where markdown can't.

What font does Reddit use?

Styling titles: use it wisely

A styled title stands out in a busy feed, but Reddit has two hard rules to respect. First, titles can't be edited after posting — if a styled character looks broken, the only fix is deleting and reposting, so double-check the preview. Second, every subreddit has its own culture: meme and gaming communities often embrace decorated titles, while news and discussion subs may remove them as low-effort or clickbait. Skim the subreddit's rules and recent front page before posting. A good middle ground is styling one or two words for emphasis rather than the whole title — you keep the visual pop without tripping automod filters that flag fully-decorated titles.

Old Reddit, new Reddit and the apps

Unicode styles display consistently across new Reddit, old.reddit.com and the official apps because they're plain characters, not formatting. What differs is the interface font around them — so a Fullwidth or Gothic style can look slightly different in each client. Third-party and text-only clients on old devices are the main place rare glyphs fall back to boxes (▯); the plain Bold and Italic styles are the safest choice when you want every reader to see it.
